As of October 1, 2013 a valid Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL) is required to rent, receive or purchase a handgun. This course meets the Maryland State Police requirement to be able to apply for an HQL.

New Paragraph

Topics covered:

  1. Application process.
  2. Introduction to Maryland State Firearm Law
  3. Handgun action and operation.
  4. Selecting your first firearm.
  5. Home firearm safety.

At the conclusion of the HQL class, we will provide students with a multi-caliber handgun cleaning kit so that when they do purchase a handgun they will be able to clean and maintain it.

The cost for the digital fingerprints is not covered in the cost of the class. Information on where to have fingerprints taken will be provided.

For a limited time, registration for the Maryland HQL class includes a 1/2 hour time slot (a $35 value) for use of the laser firearm simulation range for the student that registered. Time slots for the simulation range are booked seperately.
